Training
Seren is registered with two awarding bodies to deliver accredited courses:
- Chartered institute of environmental health (CIEH)
- Highfield awarding body for compliance (HABC)

At present Seren can offer accredited courses for the following:
- Level 2 award emergency first aid at work
- Level 2 award health and safety in the workplace
- First aid at work
We are looking to extend these courses so we can include food hygine and manual handling in the future.
We have a training room in which we are able to deliver the courses and can take a maximum of 12 people per course.
At present we have 2 fully qualified trainers and are looking to add more in the future. Joanne Farrington is the company trainer, she provides training in Health and safety and First aid for all our staff members.

Level 2 award in health and safety in the workplace (1 day course)
The course has been designed to provide knowledge and understanding of health and safety for employees working in any sector of business. Good health and safety standards rely on employers and employees working together to reduce risks, prevent accidents and ill health arising from work activities.
The syllabus includes:
Introduction to health and safety at work
Health and safety law
Manual handling
First aid at work
Risk assessment
Common hazards
Fire prevention
Hazardous substances
Personal protective equipment
Accidents and ill health
Cost: £45 per person with exam, certification included.
Level 2 award in emergency first aid at work (1 day course)
Successfully completing the level 2 emergency first aid at work course will qualify candidates to become a first aider in their workplace. In addition to recieving a certificate each successful candidate will recive a wallet sized ID card stating that they are a qualified firs aider.
The syllabus includes:
Roles and responsibilities
First aid incidents
Unconscious Casualties
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Choking
Bleeding
Shock
Minour Injuries
Cost: £45 per person with exam, certification included.
First aid at work (3 day course)
This health and safety executive approved course enables an employee to become a First Aider in their workplace learning through practical sessions. Delegates will be expected to lie and knee on the floor appropriate dress is desirable. All seccessful students will be issued with a new First Aid at Work certificate which lasts for a period of three years along with a wallet sized plastic card detailing their qualifications.
The syllabus includes:
The role and responsibility of a first aider
Assessing an incident
Managing an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally
Managing an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally
Recognise and assist a casualty who is choking
Managing a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
Managing a casualty who is in shock
Managing a casualty with a minor injury
Administer First Aid for a range of conditions
Managing a casualty for a range of major illnesses
Cost: £130 per person with exam, certification included.
